Imperial War Museum V-2

As one of the primary targets for the V-2 missile, London has played a significant role in the history of the world’s first ballistic missile.  The Imperial War Museum on Lambeth Road has a V-2 on display in their Large Exhibits Gallery, shown with cutaways that allow viewing of many of the rocket’s internal components.  The paint job used on this example is a bit puzzling; while many V-2 missiles left the factory with a solid green finish, none of them shared the glossy look of this exhibit.

Additional photographs of this display may be found on Tracy Dungan’s outstanding V-2 website.
